St. Joseph’s meditations on the mystery of Mary’s motherhood
Description
The scene is taking place in a baroque chamber. Joseph, portrayed in the foreground, is sitting thoughtfully at the table. On the right, next to the fireplace, already blessed Mary is praying for her innocence to come to light. If it came to defamation, Mary could even be stoned to death. Saint Joseph, in his justice, did not suspect Mary's guilt and did not want to expose her to defamation, so he decided to postpone moving in with Mary.
