Scene of the Coronation of Mary
Description
The Coronation of Mary scene - the scene placed at the top of the altar - represents the belief that the Virgin Mary is seated in heaven with God as Queen. In this scene, a solemn ceremony takes place. The Holy Trinity crowns the Virgin Mary, surrounded by angels playing instruments and the martyrs and patron saints of Poland - Adalbert and Stanislaus. Above them stretch openwork canopies, once extended by turrets and spires reaching up to the chancel vault.
