Custody for the storage of the host
Description
An interesting form is the custody from the 1st quarter of the 20th century for the storage of the host. It was made in the firm of Jacob Leser in Straubing. The round foot supports a low shaft, on which the host box is placed. The box has the interesting form of a rectangle closed from above with a triangle. From an architectural point of view it resembles a room with a pitched roof. This impression is further emphasized by the windows engraved on the back of the product, closed with a sharp arch with a fragment of a masquerade. The box is opened by a flat door closed with a lock. Inside, there is a melchizedek mounted on a rail with a foot and a handle in the form of a volute-twisted leaf. On the mantle of the foot are goldsmith's marks.
