The southern (front) façade
- Description
- The southern façade was divided by scarps into 11 segments, with ogival recesses containing smaller but equal-height recesses enclosed by pointed or solid arches and pierced by narrow slit windows. Originally, these smaller recesses were probably open, serving as animal entrances or windows with shutters (traces of bricking visible in the interior attest to this). The fourth and eighth segments of the façade were secondarily pierced with high and wide, straight-closed openings containing gates.
