- The portrait was originally accompanied by the inscription: 'Solers Oeconomus nulli pietate secundus / Abbas invito Principe factus erat. / Conspirant fratres aliquod, Dux carcere clausum / Detinet, excoecat, vexat et angit eum". Very solicitous of the monastery and in piety always first. Elected without the permission of the Duke. Some of the brothers conspired against him, and the Duke (John I of Zagan) shackled, blinded and tortured him.
