Description
The Neo-Gothic pulpit chiseled by Wit Wisz from 1898 was founded by Rev. Inf. Józef Krzemieński. The body of the pulpit is decorated with figures of the Evangelists and the Fathers of the Church, and under the body are the heads of the symbols of the four Evangelists. A winding, openwork staircase leads up to the pulpit. The panels between the balusters are decorated with bas-relief depictions of the seven deadly sins, represented as animals: the turtle - sloth; two fighting dragons - anger; a dragon devouring a lizard - gluttony; a dragon - greed; two monkeys - impurity; a snake - envy; a peacock - pride. The balusters bear the date of completion of the pulpit in large gilt numerals: 1898 and the artist's signature: Wit Wisz. The balustrade is finished with a motif of a snake with an apple in its mouth. On the base of the pulpit is engraved the foundation inscription with the artist's signature Facit Vitus Visz Cracoviae AD 1898. The balustrade has rich sculptural decoration, with a sculpture of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove in the palate.
