- Bartholomaeus Fichtenberger (b. ca. 1530, d. 1592) - German painter, master and member of the elders of the Guild of Painters in Wroclaw, active in this city in the second half of the 16th century. He was co-author of the main altar of the Wroclaw Cathedral, for which he executed the paintings on the altar wings in 1591. After the first closing of the altar cabinet, eight painting quatrefoils with scenes from the life of St. John the Baptist, patron saint of the Wroclaw Cathedral, appear. These scenes are as follows: Annunciation to Zechariah of the conception and birth of St. John the Baptist, Visitation of St. Elizabeth by Mary, the mother of Jesus, Circumcision and naming of John, Emissaries of the Pharisees and Sadducees at John's house, Baptism of Jesus, Pointing of John to Christ, John admonishing Herod, Martyrdom of John the Baptist.
