- Description
- The great organ has 62 voices, including eight historic voices from older Marian instruments. During the revitalisation of the basilica's instrumentation in the great organ, the oldest voices were preserved: Major Flute 8' and Minor Flute 4' dating from 1800. In the opinion of experts, these voices are characterised by a noble sound and a high quality of material and workmanship. The historic organ prospectus has been given a new, richer appearance with the addition of two towers. The entire organ was also supplemented with woodcarving elements. The appearance of the new organ case is a continuation of the classicist design by Ignacy Ziarnicki. It was commissioned in May 2022. The new instrument is served by a 4-manual playing table, also allowing the organ to be played in the chancel.
