Description
Saint Joachim was the father of Mary. The sculptor has presented a man in contrapposto, wearing a long golden topcoat. In his left hand, Joachim is holding a book. However, his eyes are turned in the opposite direction - towards heaven. The sculpture was originally a part of the main altar in the church of St. Anne on the hill near Krzeszów. On 4 August 1884, the church burned down and the tabernacle with the Blessed Sacrament and the figures of St. Joseph and St. Joachim were saved from the conflagration.
