The saint stands in slight contrapposto (on his left leg), facing the viewer. His face, a mature man with a moustache and long beard, has a gentle expression. It is drawn with slightly sunken cheeks, widely spaced eyes under prominent eyebrow tucks and a large, narrow nose. Her hair sits smoothly on her head above a high forehead and is arranged in wide locks at the sides.

He is wearing a collarless robe underneath, revealing his bare feet, with a sash tied in knots. On his shoulders is a long cloak wrapped around his right arm (which is bent at the elbow and has no hand). He presses it against his thigh with his left hand.

The statue of the saint was originally placed on the spot now occupied by St. John Evangelista.
