Description

The painting 'Christ before Pilate', placed in the main field of the altar, is modelled on Rembrandt's engraving. The scene of the presentation of Jesus to the Jewish people by Pilate was supplemented by the Stargard painter Heinrich Redtel in the lower left corner of the painting with a group portrait of eight men - probably elders and provosts of St Mary's Church.
