Years of turmoil and hope – 2nd half of the 20th century
Description
Ruins of Pyrzycka Street/Mieszka I Street and St. Mary's Church, late 1940s. [SKM_224e21090308340_0001] Iconographic materials made available with permission of the Archaeological-Historical Museum in Stargard. In 1945, the church was damaged by artillery shelling and fire. However, it is estimated that only 10% of the church's substance was damaged (while about 75% of the city's buildings were destroyed) - the roof and the tower's helmet suffered damage.
