Time of conservation changes in the early 20th century – first stage
Description
Graphic depicting St Mary's Church in Stargard; F. Plautz, Stargard i. Pom.; 2nd quarter of the 20th century. [MS/S/1369] Iconographic materials made available with permission of the Archaeological-Historical Museum in Stargard. The end of the century brought the necessity of another renovation, the occasion of which was the 600th anniversary of the temple's existence. Thanks to the efforts of the Stargard Society for the Restoration of St. Mary's Church and the help of the faithful of other parishes, the first phase of restoration work began in 1902 under the supervision of the Pomeranian Province conservator Hugo Lemcke. The work was led by the Stargard architect Heinrich Deneke, who had earlier worked on the restoration of the castle in Malbork.
