- Description
- During the restoration of the church in 1890, Tadeusz Błotnicki created a Neo-Gothic beam based on a design by Jan Matejko, supported by busts of angels holding shields with the coats of arms of Poland and Lithuania in their hands. The Neo-Gothic beam replaced the previous Baroque beam, parts of which, as well as the huge figures of Mary and St John the Evangelist, were donated to the collections of the National Museum in Krakow. On the beam, on the side of the nave, the inscription reads: "SALVUM FAC POPULUM TUUM DOMINE" (Save thy people, Lord). On the underside of the beam, on the other hand, it continues: "ET BENEDIC HAEREDITATI TUAE" (Bless Thy heritage).
