Description
The Late Gothic epitaph of Łukasz Noskowski (d. 1532), doctor of medicine, rector of the Krakow Academy and Krakow councillor, was cast in bronze and founded by Jan Noskowski. In the lower part there are four shields of arms: Gryf, Gozdawa, Nałęcz and Korwin. The epitaph is an interesting example of the functioning of Gothic traditions at a time when the Renaissance was already developing intensively in Krakow's art. The object is also interesting from another point of view: the epitaph form, so characteristic of tomb sculpture in the 16th-18th century, was used here for the first time.
